Child Rights

  • ACRD has two sub-centres under CHILDLINE India Foundation (CIF) at Rani and Boko Development Block of Kamrup district, Assam. This project is being supported by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, with CIF as the nodal agency. Through the CHILDLINE Helpline 1098, any child in need or in distress, including those relating to child labour, child marriage, child trafficking, sexual abuse and violence etc, are rescued and rehabilitated through a thorough process by the CHILDLINE teams once information is received directly or indirectly. A network has been developed with the local administration, police, local organisations, community members, educational institutions etc, to protect the rights of children. Awareness camps, open house discussions, door-to-door campaigns are also conducted at the local level to raise issues on child rights. The CHILDLINE team of ACRD rescued 88 cases during 2016-17. The CHILDLINE team also provides awareness to the community and local people about various issues of children and their rights.
