To implement poverty alleviation programmes and bring about better living conditions by generating employment and income for poor people living in rural areas.
To start, encourage, assist and carry on activities deemed necessary for sustainable self- employment of rural people like handloom, handicraft, animal husbandry, pisciculture, horticulture, plantation, etc.
To take up various programmes among the rural people on the issues of education , livelihood, rights for children and disabled, women empowerment, health, girl's trafficking etc.
To conduct research studies on education, art and culture, cultural heritage, and customary rituals and systems of the indigenous people of Assam as well as conduct research studies on the role and effectiveness of various programmes of government and non-government organisations for the development of the communities.
To conduct workshops, seminars and symposia on the above mentioned areas.
